As part of this update, Philips Hue is also introducing the ability to have the Assistant set sleep lighting effects. By telling the Assistant, “Hey Google, sleep the lights at 10 p.m,” your Hue lights will change to a warm white tone and slowly fade 30 minutes before your sleep timer. Users can also schedule manual wake-up or sleep modes up to 24 hours in advance, too.

When instructed, the Google Assistant will turn up the lights from zero to full brightness over a 30-minute period, simulating a sunrise intended to wake you up just before your audible alarm goes off. After your sunrise, customize your Wake up automation to extend through your morning routine to keep that peaceful feeling all throughout your day. As the name suggests, the Pixel’s display will gently brighten to simulate a sunrise. “Hey Google, turn on Gentle Wake up” to have your daily morning alarms pair with gradual brightening.
Tried short taps, long presses, hard presses, soft presses, nothing. No response at all, just a big animated hand showing how simple it is to get working by only doing what I’ve done a dozen times. Gentle Sleep & Wake is available starting today in English in the US, UK, Canada, Australia, Singapore, and India on Google Home devices. Users will be able to set sleep by saying “Hey Google, sleep the lights at 10pm”, changing the lights to a warm hue that gradually fade over thirty minutes.

You can, for example, ask the Assistant to play ambient sounds like distance storms, raining, or white noise to help you drift off.

If you say, “Hey Google, turn on Gentle Wakeup,” then your Philips Hue lights will begin to brighten with your morning alarms. The Philips Hue smart bulbs carved out their own slice of the smart bulb market through tons of features, color choices, and ease of use. While they are by no means the only options for smart lights these days, Philips Hue maintains their place in the market through continuous innovation and constant improvement. Hue Labs, a built-in feature on the app that allows users to try out new features before they are made an official part of the app, is just one example of this.
Every time the user set’s their alarm on the Google Assistant, Philips Hue lights will naturally wake the user up with a sunrise effect commencing 30 minutes beforehand. You can either trigger these light changes through an alarm or with a command that starts them immediately. If you say, “Hey Google, sleep the lights,” then all of your lights will begin to dim until they shut off entirely half an hour later.
This functionality will work similarly to when you would like to wake up. Responding to Philips Hue fans’ desire for enhanced control and ease of use, this new update in partnership with Google Assistant will help you to realize the full benefits of having a truly connected home. However, it's good to see Google adding features to its own smart devices, making it quicker and easier to set up the sunrise simulation, and negating the need to reach for your smartphone when thinking about bedtime.
If that doesn’t hold you back, though, the Gentle Sleep and Wake features are now available in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Australia, Singapore and India in English only. I tried syncing the goggle home mini with the philip lights for my mother, but when choosing philips hue from the long list it says “unable to connect check connection settings,” What do i have to do? I seen a nice amout of videos and let me tell you it is not as easy to set everything up like in the videos. Once all added you are set to go, any voice commands used now should change your lights and turn them on and off.
